Shopping on thanks to BlogAdda.

BlogAdda is one of the premier portals and platforms for all bloggers. They have been instrumental in doing activities which have become milestones in this sphere and they continue to do the same with different and unique activities, one of which was to shop on for Rs.5000 and blog about the whole experience. It sounds pretty easy right? I thought the same but when I actually tried doing it I realized it wasn’t that easy.

Just to brief about my past experiences with this site, I have not had a good experience earlier with Quikr and my success rate was also zero till I started this activity. I have attempted thrice before both as a seller and buyer but never been able to do anything on the site. Once the buyer turned out to be false and was just doing time pass & then the second time I was the buyer the product got sold before I finalized and thirdly I had to cancel the product because it was not up to what was described in the listing. On the contrary I have used one of the competing sites more successfully and happily.

Anyways since it was BlogAdda who was involved in this activity I had no second thoughts about doing this one. I have had amazing experiences in doing a lot of activities of BlogAdda and they are like my very good friends I really look up to. So initially I casually looked at the site couple of times browsing through trying to look for something good and worth it. Being a gadget lover I always end up looking at mobiles & tablets section on every site and this was no different.

First I was very keen on Amazon Kindle e-reader since I don’t have one. I browsed a lot of options and then shortlisted about 4 of them. I sent them messages and exchanged few things between the sellers. But all of them were more than Rs.5000 so I tried to negotiate but was not able to pull the seller in the price. All of them despite being used items but supposedly y in good condition but then also prices were high. I don’t blame the sellers in this because everyone has the right to price the goods ad per their cost, view, etc.  This made me change the choice of the product.  I started browsing home utility products but somehow was not able to make up my mind. One thing I observed was there are so many options on Quikr for different products that at times it becomes really confusing especially of you don’t know exactly what you are looking for. On top of that the genuineness of seller and product being sold is also questionable at times because till the time you don’t see the product and test it you are not convinced.

Then my sister suggested  Xiaomi Redmi 1s mobile phone.  I started looking for options and there were many to confuse me as you see here in the link – . Finally after sometime I shortlisted 5 people whom I sent messages asking about the price and availability of the phones. There was this problem which did occur at times was the updating of the listings. Lot of times the product gets sold and the listing is still live or seen. I guess the sellers need to update them as soon as the listed product gets sold.

After few exchange of messages and calls I finalised on one seller and we made everything clear about the product, warranty, bill, etc. Luckily the seller was a dealer and not an individual seller. He quoted me Rs. 5999/- inclusive all and had couple of other accessories with it worth around Rs.900. I frankly told him that I don’t need accessories and if he could reduce that Rs.900 from it for the accessories it will be perfect for me. Initially he hesitated but then gradually agreed which made the price Rs. 5099/ – net for me. He also assured me of all things and we went ahead with the deal. He sent it on COD ( Cash on Delivery ) basis which was perfect as I could first check and see the product and then make the payment. I inspected the phone and checked it with all possible check points and was satisfied with it and made the payment to the person who had got it. The dealer had sent the bill copy which carried the necessary details.

I started the device and was pretty happy with it and using it without any problems. I also gave the phone to my father and sister to try to get others opinion and they were happy with the phone too. I think overall decent experience with the Quikr site but I still feel there are questions about the genuineness of the seller and product in my mind and because of that it takes a lot of efforts and steps to make that no one is fooling around. At such a nig scale where there are so many buyers and sellers it is very easy to go wrong or make a wrong choice.

Overall It was good ending for me as I got a value for money product. This post is a part of the activity at BlogAdda.
