Miles, Points & Applications.

I have always loved collecting Miles & Points and try new mobile applications. I am always on the hunt to collect them or use them in whatever way I can. I have used miles for flight redemption for myself and family members in the past but mostly on domestic routes. Miles if used judiciously can really save your cash at that moment.  In India it is mainly Jet Airways which has a fantastic frequent flyer program besides the old warhorse Air India and newly started Vistara.  I have been a flyer with Jet Airways because of their service and flight timings plus their frequent flyer program. They have good tie ups with banks for credit and debit cards which carry additional benefits also.

ChatSim – new tool for travelers.

We all are hooked to internet these days on our laptops & mobiles and I assume majority of us use whatsapp and other chat applications like we chat, bbm (I still use it J), FB messenger, etc .  While looking for an international sim for a vacation which I took couple of weeks back I came across a new but very handy tool – CHATSIM.  This international sim card specializes in chatting applications. It is the first of its kind in the world which lets you be connected via your chat apps while travelling.

For a fixed amount for a year we can send unlimited text messages and emoji with WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, LINE, Telegram, BBM, QQi, Hike & Kakao. Isn’t this a fantastic deal? Thanks to ChatSim you can keep in touch with family, friends and colleagues. When I read this I felt this could be really useful and contacted them for a review of this sim card since I had plans to travel international already.

Birthday Surprise in Dubai

Travelling is always fun since it’s a great way to explore new places and meet new people. In 2008, parents decided to go to USA for a holiday since we have cousins staying there in San Jose, New York, Orlando, etc.  The plan got finalized for parents & my sister with my eldest bhua and fufaji since both their children are settled in San Jose with their families. That time the internet booking system had begun but still the first choice of bookings were agents and since we had a family friend in the same field dad got the whole trip planned with them.

The plan was to fly Emirates on March 25 (which is coincidentally my birth date) and take a halt at Dubai for 4 days and then proceed to San Francisco. It turned out to be perfect since it saves cost also and covers one more country to visit In the same long trip. With emirates it was easy for them as they only issue VISA and then the stay and itinerary was planned with the agents. Kinnary & I were going to through the itinerary and she said why not give parents a surprise by flying to Dubai since it was my birthday. I also agreed that it will be fun and will be remembered always that we celebrated together in Dubai.

Do your homework – Parents.

In today’s time of smart kids, smart phones, smart cities, etc everyone and everything needs to be smart. The parents also in today’s time have to be smart especially when it comes to raising a child and catering to child’s needs, education and upbringing. The world has become very competitive at every level and phase of life and all the parents want to do best and give best to their children in every way – toys, education, sports, etc.

I am sure most of you will agree that the general thinking in today’s time is whatever parents do or give to their children they want it to be the best or at par with the best. It’s no compromise situation but peer to peer pressure also in an important factor in such belief. For these things or have this kind of comfort proper financial planning is required. No matter what you do or how much you earn it is always better to be a smart investor or smart financial planner. It not only helps to take care of expenses but also gives time to enjoy those priceless moments without any mental pressure.

CritiCare+ – the best critical illness plan.

My search for the best critical illness plan was going on since the last two months after seeing my colleague suffer from cancer. He is a healthy 30 year old guy who had a year old baby. Now since his kid was too young his wife had to quit her job for few years. His salary was good enough to suffice their needs but unfortunately one day he was detected with a tumor that turn out to be malignant. We all were so freaked out, we were worried about his health but one thing we missed at that time was his finances. He had to go through a surgery then the chemotherapy sessions. Medical expenses went beyond their expectation. The company helped him with the mediclaim procedure but the mediclaim cover was not sufficient plus they had to submit multiple hospital bills. The mediclaim amount did not pay for their day to day expenses while he wasn’t working. Looking at the financial condition of my colleague and his friends I was shaken and that very moment I decided to go for an insurance plan that covers a severe critical illness like cancer. I was looking for plans online and I found many plans which covered cancer, now I was convinced that I need to be prepared against cancer. But is cancer the only illness that’s common these days? Then I stepped back and thought – what if I suffered from heart disease, kidney failure and so on. I then came across riders that cover multiple critical illnesses but many of the disease they covered were not common and they were tied up with my term plan so first and foremost I didn’t want to compromise on my term cover. Other point was what if I suffer from a critical illness again? Will it cover me? The answer was no! I further researched for plans that covered multiple illnesses and that gave me an option to claim more than once. That’s when I found Edelweiss Tokio Life – CritiCare+. The plan which perfectly fitted all my needs; it covered 17 critical illnesses, had a multiclaim option to claim not just twice but thrice and above all it my premium cost was also low. Now that sounds like a plan which can help one bounceback from a critical illness!
